Man Arrested For Climbing Mount Rushmore

Man gives rock climbing a whole new meaning

A Chicago man was arrested after attempting to climb Mount Rushmore, Monday.

53-year-old Patrick Marshall pleaded guilty to charges of trespass and failing to obey a lawful order after he was found climbing the iconic American carving.

“At no time during the incident was the sculpture or the visitors at Mount Rushmore National Memorial in any danger,” Mount Rushmore spokeswoman Maureen McGee-Ballinger said, according to the Washington Post.

Though McGee-Ballinger said similar incidences happen multiple times a year, Marshall was still fined $500 and ordered to pay $50 in court costs.
