Two police officers were injured Saturday while responding to a burglary at a Sam’s Club in Elgin, in which two thieves sent police on a miles long chase into Wisconsin, officials said.

The fire department was called to life the squad car off the woman. Both were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition, but are expected to survive, police said.

The officer in the squad car reportedly suffered minor injuries.

Police suspect alcohol played a role in the crash.
