Mother Sentenced for Punching Girl on Bus

A woman from Indiana gets a year in jail after reportedly punching a girl during a fight on a school bus.

An Indiana mother is sentenced to a year in jail for getting involved in a fight between her daughter and another girl on a school bus.

40-year-old Tracey Childs reportedly punched 15-year-old Donisha Bowers during a fight with her 18-year-old daughter Jasmine Avant, police said.

In Gary City Court this week, Childs testified she boarded her daughter's bus after her son told her Jasmine was in a fight, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Child also said she tried breaking up the fight, but did not assault Bowers, according to the Sun-Times.

Avant also took the stand and mentioned the other girl had confronted her the day before the fight after talking to a boy, the paper reports.

Some students recorded videos of the fight, which shows Bowers fighting on top of Avant, according to police.
