Trying to avoid getting a ticket? You might want to steer clear of these cars... and drive carefully, of course.
According to a new study by Insurance.com, lead-foot drivers tend to choose similar cars. The insurance website ranked more than 500 vehicles based on percentage of owners who received tickets while driving recently.
The so-called “ticket magnets” ranking showed the Subaru WRX was the most-ticketed vehicle in the U.S.
With 33.6 percent of drivers receiving a traffic citation, the turbocharged, all-wheel-drive sport-compact saw one in three drivers pulled over.
Following the Subaru WRX was the Pontiac GTO, which took the No. 2 slot with 32.7 percent.
Also among the top ticketed cars were the Scion FR-S with 32.6 percent and Toyota Supra with 30.8 percent.
The list wasn’t all sporty vehicles, with Subaru Tribecas at No. 5 and the Mazda2 ranking at No.10.

Even more surprising is the Toyota Prius C, which rounded out the Top 20 with 27 percent.
The most ticketed brand overall was Scion, with 27.5 percent of all owners reporting a traffic violation.
“Cars don’t get tickets, drivers do – but those drivers like the WRX,” said Insurance.com Managing Editor Des Toups. “It’s not about horsepower. The Chevrolet Corvette, Dodge Viper and Nissan GT-R rank well below average for tickets even though they can easily double the highest speed limits. But those cars are also costly, so their buyers tend to be older and take fewer risks.”
