A list of the 2018 most endangered historic places in Illinois was released on Wednesday—including several known Chicago sites in the suburbs.
The non-profit organization Landmarks Illinois released its 2018 list, which concentrates on sites that represent the state’s history in honor of the Illinois bicentennial.
The annual list, which started in 1995, focuses its “attention on sites threatened by deterioration, lack of maintenance, insufficient funds or inappropriate development,” the official site states.
For the second time in a row, the James R. Thompson Center in Chicago made the list, this time followed by the Chicago O’Hare Rotunda Building.
