More Than 20K Lose Power at Height of Wednesday Night's Storms

More than 3,000 ComEd customers were without power Thursday morning after a night of powerful storms.

At the peak of Wednesday night’s storms, ComEd had nearly 22,000 without power, officials say. By 6 a.m. the next morning the company was still working to restore power for about 3,400 customers.

Chicago’s south suburbs were hid the hardest with heavy downpour, dangerous winds and frequent lightning.

When the storm finally passed, many residents found damage and debris tossed around their neighborhoods, but no serious injuries were reported.
