More Record Warmth Possible in Chicago Area

Chicago could break another heat record Thursday as the city's wave of unseasonably warm temperatures continues.

With the first day of fall near, the area will continue to feel much more like summer with temperature highs in the upper-80s and low-90s.

Mostly sunny skies and breezy conditions are forecast as the city could break the day's record high, set at 92 degrees.

Chicago already reached 92 degrees at O'Hare Airport this week, breaking a nearly 100-year-old record Wednesday.

Chicago had not reached 91 degrees on Sept. 20 since 1931. The record was tied at 1:50 p.m., then broken, when the city peaked at 92 degrees soon after.

Fall officially begins Friday afternoon, bringing with it another shot at record-breaking temperatures. Temperature highs are once again forecast to reach into the upper-80s and low-90s, potentially breaking the day's record high of 92 degrees.

The warm trend continues into the weekend, with mostly sunny skies forecast.

Mild temps are expected to return by the middle of next week.
