Mom, Two Daughters Shot in Hammond

12- and 15-year-old girls flown to Chicago hospital

Police are looking for two men in connection with a shooting that injured a mother and two of her children Sunday.

The 41-year-old woman and her 12- and 15-year-old daughters were shot while sitting in a car in an alley close to Morris Avenue and Calumet Street at about 11 a.m. Police say the men asked for money and then started firing.

The girls were flown to a Chicago hospital and their mother was treated at a local hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Police say the victims are from Addison, Il.

Ed Smith heard the gunshots and witnessed the police response.

"I hear shootings every and then, but to hear so many shots early in the morning is kind of surprising," Ed Smith said.

The conditions of the girls was not released.

Police do not have any suspects in custody.
