An individual found Thursday night in a densely wooded area in Vernon Hills committed suicide, according to the coroner, and he's believed to be a Lake Villa man who's been missing since Sept. 20.

The body was found at 10:30 p.m., about five hours after Steward's car was found abandoned in a parking lot on the 900 block of Westmoreland Drive.

Nicolas Steward has been missing since Sept. 20. The Lake Villa man's car could provide some clues as to where he went. Lauren Jiggetts reports.

The wounds on his body suggest he slit his wrists, according to the coroner. Some of Steward's personal items were also found near the body, which was badly decomposed.

Steward's last known whereabouts was in his car on Sept. 20 on Interstate 294 in Des Plaines.

DNA tests have been ordered and the results are expected by Monday.
