Colvin was found in the trunk of his car.

A Chicago man who has been missing since mid-September turned up dead in his own garage, Thursday.

The decomposing body of Stephen Colvin, 57, was found in the trunk of his car in the garage behind his home on the 7700 block of South Martin Luther King Drive, according to the Chicago Breaking News Center.

Colvin was found with a knife under his hand and with his car keys and his wallet but not his phone. The car in which he was discovered has not been moved for some time. Colvin was last seen on Sept. 18.

Investigators are not sure of the cause of death, and are unsure why an earlier search passed over the trunk.  An autopsy is scheduled for later Friday morning.
