Woman Dead After Car Struck by Metra Train Near Jackson Park

Metra trains on the Union Pacific Northwest line were delayed Wednesday after a vehicle was struck by a train leaving a 25-year-old woman dead, officials said.

Inbound train #650, which was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 4:59 p.m. was stopped near Jefferson Park about 4:48 p.m., Metra said.

Chicago Fire Department officials said the 25-year-old was pulled from the vehicle struck by the train and no one else was inside.

All Metra passengers were OK, officials said.

The duration of the delay was not immediately known.

No other information was immediately available.
