Metra Exec Seeks To Restore 10-Ride Discount

Metra Board of Directors to vote on proposal next month

There's good news for Metra riders upset with the elimination of the 10-ride ticket discount earlier this year.

Metra Chairman Brad S. O'Halloran says he plans to ask the Metra Board of Directors to restore the discount at its August meeting.

Under the old system, riders only had to pay the equivalent of nine one-way fares when buying 10.

O'Halloran announced the changes while appearing before the Regional Transportation Authority Wednesday to discuss the large settlement agreement between Metra and Alex Clifford, who resigned late last month.

O'Halloran says eliminating the discount has led to a decline in sales.
