Men Stabbed in Face Near Belmont Red Line Station

Two men were stabbed in the face Sunday in the North Side Lakeview neighborhood, police said.

Two men were sitting on a curb aroun 5:10 a.m. in the 3200 block of North Sheffield near the Belmont Red Line CTA station when a group of offenders approached them, officials said.

The offenders took one victim's cell phone then struck both men with glass bottles causing lacerations to their faces, police said.

The offenders then fled the scene, but one of the victims and a group of witnesses chased and caught three, according to police.

The three men were later arrested by officers in the area.

One of the victims, 25, was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was last listed in stable condition, police said.
