Suburban Woman Gains Fame for Losing Big

Josephine Reed loses 156 pounds

Losing weight can be a good attention-getter.

Just ask Matteson's Josephine Reed, who in the past week has appeared on the cover of People magazine and also made television appearances on NBC’s Today Show, Extra, Entertainment Tonight and Inside Edition

The 5 foot 1, 34-year-old Reed used to weigh 270 pounds, but with the help of Jenny Craig consultants, she's down to 114 pounds.

Reed told the Southtown Star she's surprised about her sudden fame, noting that she never thought she'd wind up on the cover of People's annual issue on dieting.

The newly-slim woman says she’s surprised when she gets recognized, and hopes she can serve as an inspiration to people who want, or need to lose weight.

Reed told the newspaper she still loves to eat, but now she eats right. That includes grilled chicken, Eggbeater omelettes and an occasional Jenny Craig meal for dinner.
