Marathon Registration Sets Record

The max number of runners registered in just 31 days

Regular registration for the Chicago Marathon has ended -- and in record time.

The maximum 45,000 participants signed up for the annual 26.2-mile run in just 31 days, three weeks faster than last year.

Marathon representatives announced another record Thursday: $12 million raised by runners during the 2010 race for charities around the world.

“We are no strangers to records," said Tim Maloney, Bank of America Chicago and Illinois Market President, in a news release. "But these two records are truly meaningful."

Runners can still participate in the 2011 marathon though more than 90 affiliated non-profits. Go to chicagomarathon.com for charity program details.
