Where the Gangs Hang

Chicago Magazine

The resulst of the 2010 Census showed that Chicago has close to 2.7 million people.

Between 70,000 to 125,000 gang members, according to Chicago Magazine, and most of them are either Folks or People.

According to the magazine, the People consist of gangs such as the Black P. Stones, the Vice Lords and the Latin Kings. The Folks, on the other hand, include gangs such as the Gangster Disciples and the Black Disciples. These groups make up the five largest gangs in Chicago.

Although they "share" the same streets, the gangs have their own locations.

The editors of Chicago Magazine have created a map outlining some of the typical stomping grounds of the gangs. The Black Disciples, for example, are a Southside gang, whereas the Vice Lords span from Division St. to Roosevelt St.

Take a look at the map below, and visit Chicago Magazine for a more detailed breakdown.
