White Sox Miss Out as Manny Machado Signs Deal With Padres: Reports

According to multiple reports, the superstar has signed a deal with the San Diego Padres

The Chicago White Sox had been interested in acquiring Manny Machado this offseason, but apparently that won't be happening.

According to multiple reports, the superstar has signed a deal with the San Diego Padres.

The news was reported by ESPN's Jeff Passan, citing league sources. MLB's Mark Feinsand also reported the deal was for 10 years and $300 million with an opt out clause after his fifth season. Such a deal would mark the biggest free-agent contract in history, Feinsand wrote.

The White Sox had reportedly offered Machado a contract, but it’s unclear how much money it included.

The free agent infielder hit 37 home runs last season and drove in 107 RBI, and he would have been a massive upgrade to their offense.
