Man in Critical Condition After Evanston Shooting

A man was in critical condition after being shot in Evanston Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The shooting took place around 5:22 p.m. in the back of a residence in the 1900 block of Emerson Street, according to police.

Four men approached the man and fired shots, police said. The 45-year-old was struck a single time in the head.

The victim was taken to Evanston Hospital in critical condition, police said.

The four men fled the scene westbound by foot, according to police. The campus area of Evanston Township High School was not involved in the shooting.

No other information was immediately available.
