A man who turned himself into police after his image was released to the public in connection with an attack on a woman near a Chicago Transit Authority train stop has been charged, police said.
Leverne Burnette, 21, was charged with attempted criminal sexual assault after he allegedly followed a 19-year-old woman after she exited a CTA Blue Line train at the UIC-Halsted station and attempted to sexually assault her.
The police department on Wednesday released surveillance images of a man at the UIC-Halsted station, on the CTA's Blue Line, who they believed attacked the 19-year-old woman Tuesday.
The attacker was described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s who stood about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighed approximately 160 pounds. He was wearing a black t-shirt with a red and white logo and was carrying a dark backpack.
