Man Tries Abducting Girl Outside Chicago School: Police

The 9-year-old girl was waiting for a ride home from school, police said

A little girl waiting for a ride home from school nearly became a kidnapping victim Monday afternoon, Chicago Police said.

The 9-year-old girl was waiting outside of Lafayette Elementary School in the 2700 block of West Augusta Avenue when a man in a red minivan with grey interior tried to abduct her, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male about 40 to 50 years old, standing about 5-foot-11 and weighing about 170 pounds. He has black hair with an olive complexion with either a snake or a dragon tattoo on his left arm, police said. He was wearing a blue tank top and jeans at the time.
