Man Tried to Lure Suburban Kids to Car with Game of “Hide and Seek”: Police

The two children were playing at a playground at an apartment complex in Lisle at the time

A man tried to lure a 5-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl from a playground in suburban Lisle Wednesday by promising them a game of “hide and seek,” police said.

The two children were playing at a playground around 8:30 p.m. at an apartment complex on Warrenville Road just west of Yackley Avenue when a man tried to get them to his vehicle.

The man promised the kids toys and a game of “hide and seek” and the children started walking with him to the vehicle but were stopped before they made it there. An older sibling came and took the children home, police said.

The man is described as being in his 30s, tall and skinny with balding hair and stubbly, scraggly beard, police said. He was last seen wearing a red Chicago Bulls T-shirt and jeans and left the area in a Maroon Chevrolet Equinox.

Police ask that anyone with information related to this incident call the department’s investigation unit at (630) 271-4200.

Also Wednesday, Chicago police say two men tried to lure a boy into a vehicle using a medical emergency.
