Suicide Attempt Delays Red Line Service

Major delays for the CTA Red Line after police nab a man threatening to jump off the train tracks above the Dan Ryan Expressway, which stopped all traffic on the Dan Ryan Expressway during the Wednesday morning rush.

Police nabbed a man threatening to jump from the train tracks above the Dan Ryan Expressway at 59th Street about 5:55 a.m., an Illinois State Police District Chicago trooper said.

All traffic on the southbound lanes were closed but were reopening as of 6 a.m., the trooper said.

Chicago police and fire were initially called at 4:52 a.m. for the man, police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.

The CTA is still warning of major delays caused by police activity near the Garfield station, according to a customer alert.
