A man was stabbed in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant in northwest suburban Schaumburg Tuesday night, and police continue searching for a suspect.

A fight started in the parking lot of the McDonald's at 720 E. Higgins Rd. at about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Schaumburg detectives said the stabbing started as an altercation between two men who knew each other.

The public should not be concerned, they said.

The victim, who remains unidentified, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening.
