Man Shot, Critically Wounded Near IIT

The 23-year-old victim was driving around 8:30 p.m. when he was shot in the face, police say.

A 23-year-old man was critically wounded in a shooting Friday night near the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Bronzeville neighborhood campus on the South Side.

He was driving in a car about 8:30 p.m. in the 0-100 block of West 31st Street when someone fired at the car and struck him in the face, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Mercy Hospital in critical condition and later transferred to Stroger Hospital, police said.
