The cause of the crash remains under investigation

A 58-year-old man was killed in a crash in Long Grove Wednesday, officials said.

The crash took place just after 1 p.m. on Old McHenry Road near Prairie Wind Drive, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicated a 2010 Chevrolet HHR was traveling southbound on Old McHenry Road when the vehicle left the roadway and hit a parked 2003 Mack truck.

The truck, owned by ABC Supply Company of Beloit, Wisconsin, was facing northbound and the driver was unloading material at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Mark M. Howard, of Long Grove, was pronounced dead at Condell Medical Center, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. He was the only person in the vehicle.

The driver of the truck, 42-year-old Jose Cruz of Woodstock, was not near the truck at the time of the crash, officials said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
