Man Fatally Stabbed in Uptown After Argument About Socks: Alderman

Alderman says the victim was stabbed during an argument over a pair of socks

A man was stabbed to death Sunday night in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood after an argument that may have been over a pair of socks, officials said. 

The stabbing happened at a bus stop near the Target store at Broadway and Sunnyside Avenue, according to authorities. Police said the victim was fighting with a man around 9:45 p.m. in the 4400 block of North Broadway when he was stabbed in the neck.

Ald. James Cappleman tweeted that the fight between the two men was over a pair of socks.

The victim was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said a 58-year-old man was in custody in connection with the stabbing Monday morning, but no charges had been filed.
