Man Killed During Chase by DeKalb Sheriff's Deputies

A reported domestic dispute that was responded to by DeKalb County sheriff's deputies ended when a man fleeing the scene was killed when he crashed the vehicle he was driving.

Jeffrey S. Nissen was pronounced dead Monday at St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford from injuries he received when he drove a vehicle that wasn't his off the road and into a utility pole. Nissen was ejected from the vehicle.

The sheriff's office says it received a call advising them Nissan was leaving a residence and had been drinking. Records also showed his driver's license had been revoked.

Deputies were approaching the residence when they observed a vehicle matching the description. They attempted to stop the vehicle and when the driver sped away, deputies gave chase, which ended with the crash.
