Man Killed After Coffee Machine Falls on His Head

A man was killed Saturday while setting up a commercial coffee machine in Chicago.

Police said the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 300 block of East Jackson.

A man, later identified as 48-year-old James Karr, was setting up a coffee machine when he lost his balance. He grabbed the machine to keep from falling, but the machine fell on top of his, police said.

Karr was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he later died, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
