Man Found Fatally Shot in West Chicago Suburb

Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man in a western suburb Tuesday morning.

Police say they received numerous calls around 3:30 a.m. reporting shots fired in the 2200 block of 25th Avenue in Broadview.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a 20-year-old man with gunshot wounds. The man was taken to Loyola Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

According to Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin, the victim was Cory Foster Jr., the son of Boykin's first chief of staff. Boykin said the shooting was the result of an attempted robbery.

"I spoke to Cory and expressed my condolences to him and his family. The pain in his voice was palpable," Boykin said in a statement. "Each day that goes by without meaningful actions to curb this horrific gun violence is a shame on all of us as elected officials. I urge the governor to convene a group of law enforcement officials, elected officials and community leaders to discuss what can be done to protect the citizens of Chicago and Cook County.”

Authorities said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and “there is no indication of a threat to the community.”

Broadview detectives along with the West Suburban Homicde Task Force are investigating possible leads in the case.
