A McHenry County man has proven it pays to garden.

Wayne Sabaj, of Johnsburg, found two bags of cash in his backyard garden containing more than $100,000.

McHenry County Undersheriff Andrew Zinke tells the Daily Herald Sabaj called police Monday afternoon after he found the two grocery bags.

Zinke says he thinks the cash was taken during a burglary, then ditched in Sabaj's yard, but the county does not have any reports of large cash thefts in the area.

Police are searching the bags for fingerprints and the serial numbers on the individual bills.

Anyone with information about the money is asked to call McHenry County Sheriff's Detectives at 815-334-4750.
