Man Fatally Hit by Car after River North Fight: Police

The 30-year-old victim was hit in the head, then fell into the street where a sedan ran over him

A 30-year-old man was fatally struck by a car after a River North fight early Sunday, according to Chicago Police.

About 4:20 a.m., he got into a fight with another person who hit him in the head, sending him falling onto the street near Hubbard and State, police said.

A Ford sedan then ran over him, and he was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he later died, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not immediately confirm the fatality.

The driver stayed at the scene and wasn’t charged or ticketed. The other person from the fight walked away and wasn’t in custody Sunday morning.

CPD’s Major Accident Investigations unit is handling the case.
