Man Critically Stabbed at Chicago Club

The attacker was hitting on the man's girlfriend, police said

A man remained in critical condition Thursday after he was stabbed in the neck while defending his girlfriend at a trendy West Loop club.

Chicago Police said the attacker made a pass at the man's girlfriend Wednesday night at Plush nightclub, at 1104 W. Madison. When the man, 43, stepped in to defend his girlfriend from the advances, a heated argument began and the attacker pulled out a knife, police said.

The man was stabbed in the neck just after midnight. He was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital.

The attacker ran off, and police continue to search for him.

Neighbors told NBCChicago they're frustrated with such incidents at the club and have been trying to get Plush's liquor license taken away.

"The neighborhood is up in arms over this," said Martha Goldstein of the West Loop Community organization. "They'd like the establishment shut down."

Neighbors have passed around a petition and have about 250 names.

"We don't have crime like this in this neighborhood," Goldstein said. "We have a lot of families, children, and people are afraid to walk down Madison Street."

Plush representatives could not be reached for comment.
