    No one was injured Saturday when a southwest suburban man accidentally fired a handgun through the floor of his apartment and into the unit below.

    Timothy Cavanagh, 30, of the 100 block of Marketplace Drive in Yorkville, called police around 3:20 p.m. Saturday to report that he’d been cleaning his handgun when it accidentally fired.

    Police said the bullet went through the floor and was found in the apartment below.

    No one was in the lower apartment when the shot was fired, police said.

    Cavanagh was charged with disorderly conduct. Police said damage is estimated at $5,000.
