Man Charged with Attempted Murder of a Cop

Chicago Police have charged a Chicago man with attempted murder for allegedly steering his vehicle toward the police officer and dragging the officer.

Roosevelt Hartman, 26, of the 100 block of N. Laramie, was arrested and charged with one count of attempted murder in the first degree, aggravated assault,  aggravated battery involving a peace officer, and possession of a controlled substance.

Hartman allegedly participated in a shooting incident  on February 16, 2013 in the 3900 block of W. Chicago, during which the offender attempted to run down a Chicago Police Officer with his vehicle. 

The officer grabbed hold of the hood of the van while Hartman allegedly attempted to drive away. The officer shot into the vehicle injuring Hartman. 

Hartman was taken to the hospital with a gun shot wound, the officer was treated for injuries to his foot. 

Hartman is scheduled to appear  in court on February 19.
