Man Charged in Red Line Groping

The most recent incident took place last Wednesday

A 53-year-old man has been charged for allegedly fondling women on Chicago Transit Authority trains last week.

Noor Jalil, of the 2400 block of North Kedzie Avenue, was charged with two felony counts of criminal sexual abuse, three felony counts of aggravated battery to a transit passenger and one felony count of unlawful restraint.

Police allege Jalil made inappropriate contact with two female victims while they were aboard CTA trains.

The most recent incident took place last Wednesday on a crowded Red Line train around 8:30 a.m.

"I'm probably more cautious when I ride the Red Line than other lines for sure," a passenger told NBC 5.

Police issued a community alert surrounding the incidents. A similar incident was reported a day earlier, police said.

"It sounds like it happens to often. A lot of hoodlums spoils the fun for the ride," another passenger said.

Police advised riders to always be aware of their surroundings, walk in pairs or groups, dial 911 to report suspicious activity and to never pursue a fleeing assailant.
