Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Disabled Teenage Relative

A west suburban man who prosecutors call an “illegal alien” is being held on $1 million bond after being charged with sexually assaulting a teenage relative who suffers from spina bifida.

Adan Rodriguez, 49, of Carol Stream, Illinois, faces one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, according to a statement from the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.

“The allegations against Mr. Rodriguez are some of the most despicable and disgusting I have seen in my nearly three decades as a prosecutor,” State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in the statement.

Beginning in 2009, Rodriguez sexually assaulted the 15-year-old girl on multiple occasions at her home, prosecutors claim. He is a relative of the teen who moved in with her family about eight years ago.

The girl’s mother found sexually explicit texts and photos between Rodriguez and her daughter on the girl’s phone, prosecutors said. She immediately contacted Carol Stream police.

Rodriguez allegedly admitted to touching the victim inappropriately, prosecutors said.

“This young girl has special needs and has had to rely on others her entire life. If these allegations are proven true, Mr. Rodriguez took advantage of his victim’s condition to satisfy his own sick, twisted sexual desires,” Berlin said.

Judge Robert Kleeman ordered Rodriguez held on $1 million Thursday. He is next scheduled to appear in court March 30 in Wheaton.
