Man Charged in Fatal South Side Shooting

Terry Burnett, 35, of the 14600 block of South Jefferson in Harvey was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.

A Harvey man was charged Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting of two men on the city's South Side.

Terry Burnett, 35, of the 14600 block of South Jefferson in Harvey was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm, police said.

According to police, on Oct. 14, around 9 a.m., two men were seated in a car in the 800 block of East 82nd Street when they got into a verbal altercation with Burnett.

Burnett allegedly pulled out a handgun during the argument and shot the two victims.

Police said a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and a 30-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

Burnett is expected to appear in bond court Thursday.
