A 43-year-old man was beaten and robbed in the Wicker Park neighborhood Thursday morning.
The robbery occurred around 4:30 a.m. on the corner of North and Damen avenues, where a shirtless man punched the victim and stole his backpack and items from his pockets, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The victim was walking near the intersection when the unarmed offender reportedly began talking and “sparring” with him before punching the victim to the ground and striking him on the head.
The victim is expected to survive and is being treated at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital. He described his attacker as a 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 black man between the ages of 18 and 25, the Tribune reports.
