Man Accused of Killing 12-Year-Old Quincy Boy Gets Lawyers

Twenty-year-old Steson L. Crider Chandler, Arizona, is charged with first-degree murder in the March death of seventh-grader Ray Humphrey Jr.

An Arizona man accused in the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old Quincy boy has a new legal team after a three-week search to replace his court-appointed public defenders.

Twenty-year-old Steson L. Crider Chandler, Arizona, is charged with first-degree murder in the March death of seventh-grader Ray Humphrey Jr.

Crider's father, stepmother and half brother have pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports that Quincy attorneys John Hauk and Tad Brenner were appointed at a Wednesday hearing to represent Crider.

The county public defender's office cited a conflict of interest since its lawyers represent potential witnesses in the case.

Crider is scheduled to appear in court at a Wednesday arraignment. He has not yet entered a plea.
