Lost Peacock Reunited With Owners

After running out an open gate in the backyard, a peacock by the name of Fluffy has been reunited with his owners

A west side family was reunited with their lost peacock on Monday after it escaped over the weekend.

The Baez family was reunited with their pet peacock, Fluffy, after the bird escaped through an open gate in the family's backyard and was found in Douglas Park on Sunday, the Chicago Sun Times reported.

The peacock, which was given to the Baez's as a gift six years ago, was pretty popular at Animal Care & Control after it had been picked up.

After having the story of his rescue aired on TV Sunday night, Animal Care & Control said it received phone calls from three people claiming the bird was theirs.

It wasn't until Fluffy quickly snatched a piece of hot dog offered by Gilbert Baez Sr. that Cherie Travis, Animal Care & Control's Executive Director, was sure the bird had found its owner.

Fluffy is now safe at home, once again enjoying the company of the Baez's two dogs and staring at his reflection in the mirror in the backyard, which the family said was one of of the bird's favorite pastimes.
