Lollapalooza Clean-Up Tab More Than $260,000

The repairs included restoration of turf in Grant Park

The muddy mess that was left in Grant Park after a rainy Lollapalooza has been almost fully restored at an expense of more than $260,000, according to Chicago Park District officials.

The concert promoter is held responsible for paying the tab of $260,544 that included major landscape repairs. The damage was caused by the thousands of concert attendees and some trecherous rainfall that left the turf damaged and the ground muddy.

Portions of Grant Park had been closed off since the three-day festival ended in August to comlete the repairs.

The damage from this year's event cost about $50,000 more to repair than the damage from last year's event. However, it does not come close to the record damage costs of $800,000 in 2011.
