Portland-based band Portugal. The Man needs Chicago's help.

After finishing their set at Lollapalooza Sunday night, the band's van and trailer full of gear was stolen.

"HELP People of Chicago and @Lollapalooza our van & trailer & gear where stolen. Red Ford Van, Black trailer Alaska plates FJH244," the band tweeted Monday afternoon.

The van was in an attended parking lot near Grant Park, according to an Atlantic Records spokeswoman. The band listed 97 instruments and pieces of equipment in the trailer, including several vintage guitars, synths and pedals.

The van is a red Ford, 15-passenger 350 van with Alaska license plates reading FJH244. A black trailer is attached.

An estimated 270,000 people attended the annual Grant Park music festival throughout the weekend.

Despite additional security measures, packs of up to several hundred teens tried to topple chain-link fences along the east side of Grant Park Sunday afternoon. The gate crashers reportedly organized through a Facebook group.
