Local Soldier Killed in Afghanistan Laid to Rest

Nicholas Taylor, 20, was laid to rest at M.R.E. Cemetary in Berne, Ind.

A soldier from Southern Indiana who was killed in Afghanistan, was laid to rest in his hometown of Berne, Ind., on Tuesday.

Army Specialist Nicholas Taylor, 20, was killed by a rocket-propelled grenade July 16 while serving in Afghanistan. The grenade also killed another Indiana native National Guardsman.

Taylor was laid to rest at M.R.E. Cemetary in Berne, a town just South of Fort Wayne.

The 20-year-old soldier planned to go to college to study criminal justice after his service was over.
