Lindenhurst Man Dies in Lake Villa Crash

A 58-year-old Lindenhurst man has died after a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in unincorporated Lake Villa.

According to preliminary information, William S. Klinesmith was traveling eastbound Grass Lake Road at about 4 p.m. when his 1999 Ford Ranger entered the westbound lanes, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Ford collided with a red 2006 Chevrolet Silverado traveling west on Grass Lake Road near Gelden Road, police said.

Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles and were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where Klinesmith was pronounced dead.

Sky 5 video of the scene showed extensive front-end damage to both vehicles. Grass Lake Road was shut down at Gelden and Savage roads.

The incident remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
