Adam LaRoche Tweets Reminder About ‘Take Your Child to Work' Day

LaRoche announced plans to retire in March week after team president Kenny Williams asked that he stop bringing the 14-year-old to the ballpark on a daily basis

Former Chicago White Sox player Adam LaRoche took to Twitter to remind people to take advantage of being able to take their kids to work Thursday.

“Don't forget, tomorrow is take your child to work day,” he wrote to his 39,000 followers.

Of course, you probably remember LaRoche as the player who walked away from professional baseball a dispute about how much time his son Drake was spending with him at work.

LaRoche announced plans to retire in March week after team president Kenny Williams asked that he stop bringing the 14-year-old to the ballpark on a daily basis. Rather than adhere to that desire, LaRoche opted leave behind his $13 million salary this season.

“I’m not saying this is the way everybody should raise their kid,” LaRoche said in a lengthy interview with ESPN’s Tim Keown. “I’m saying I was given the privilege to raise my kid this way by some awesome teams and managers and GMs. Can every parent do it? No. But we can spend more time with our kids? Sure. I feel like I’ve spent as much time with Drake as you can, and if he were to die tomorrow, I guarantee you I’d be looking back and saying I wish I spent more time with him.”

Now that he's no longer in baseball, LaRoche said he was planning a lengthy RV trip with his family, and he'll look to continue to dedicate time to fighting underage sex trafficking in Southeast Asia.
