Krispy Kreme Opens in Downtown Chicago

The Loop location marks the glazed doughnut company's fourth location in the Chicago area since announcing its return in 2015

Good news, doughnut lovers - Krispy Kreme is now in downtown Chicago.

The iconic glazed treats are being offered at a new "Chicago Fresh Shop" located at Block 37 in the city's Loop, the company announced Tuesday.

The first-of-its-kind shop is owned and operated by Chicagoland Restaurants LLC, according to the company, and will receive a supply of fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts twice daily.

Chicagoland Restaurants, LLC is an independently owned and operated franchisee group overseeing the return of Krispy Kreme to the Chicago area. The doughnut chain closed its retail stores in Chicago during the recession but announced in 2015 that it would bring eight planned shops back to the region.

The Loop location marks its fourth location since the big announcement, and will offer Krispy Kreme's signature glazed doughnuts, assorted varieties, coffee and frozen beverages, according to the company, which said it will also offer online ordering and delivery.

"After reestablishing the Krispy Kreme brand in Homewood, Evergreen Park and Hillside, we have found the perfect spot for our first Chicago Fresh Shop in Block 37 for the city’s commuters, locals and visitors," Carlos Larcada, President of Chicagoland Restaurants, LLC, said in a statement.

"We’re finally giving Chicagoans what they have been waiting for – a downtown location to satisfy their Krispy Kreme cravings."
