An Illinois trooper was killed early Friday when a semi truck crashed into James Sauter's squad car. Officials said Sauter had finished helping a motorist when he stopped on the left shoulder of I-294.

Authorities are investigating human skeletal remains found by two youths in a wooded area in Woodridge Saturday.

Two kids found the remains in the 7900 block of Lemont Road while they were taking a walk Saturday around 1:30 p.m., police said.

It is not known if the remains are male or female and the age and cause of death is undetermined.

The remains were turned over to the DuPage County Coroner for further analysis, officials said.
