Kane Picks Up 100th Playoff Point as Blackhawks Win Game 2

In his 101st career playoff game, Chicago Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane further cemented himself as one of the best players to ever don the team’s jersey as he scored twice in the team’s 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild.

With the goals, Kane eclipsed the 100-point barrier in his playoff career, which ranks him fifth all-time in Blackhawks history. Stan Mikita naturally holds the record at 150 career playoff points, with Denis Savard (145), Bobby Hull (129), and Steve Larmer (111) rounding out the rest of the top five ahead of Kane.

Kane is being hotly pursued in this category by Jonathan Toews, who has 90 career points in 102 postseason games after scoring the opening goal in Game 2. Patrick Sharp is also climbing the Blackhawks’ all-time list, moving up to 73 points after his goal in Sunday’s victory.

Another notable statistic from the game comes courtesy of Christopher Kamka of CSN Chicago. Sunday’s game marked the 60th time that Kane and Toews have scored in the same game in their careers, and was the fifth time they’ve done it in the postseason. They have won all five times that has occurred in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the Hawks’ record in those games overall is now 50-6-4.

If Minnesota wants a small crumb of comfort, they aren’t likely to find one with Kane, as his performance only gets better as a series rolls along. In Games 5-7 of his career in the postseason, Kane has scored 20 goals and dished out 22 assists in 33 games, with the Blackhawks holding a 27-6 record in those contests.
