Chicagoland has an Idol to be revered.
Joliet native Jermaine Sellers, 26, wowed judges on the Fox reality show with his rendition of Joan Osborne’s “One of Us.”
"That was a great interpretation of that song," judge Kara DioGuardi said.
Randy Jackson called his performance the best vocal yet.
Sellers, who’s mother has spina bifida, a debilitating spinal disease, was one of the featured stories during the hour-long show.
He is off to Los Angeles for Hollywood Week.
Chicago is no stranger to Idol success. Chi-town native Jennifer Hudson is one of the most succesful Idol contestants ever, garnering a grammy and an Oscar since competing on the show.
