Joliet Mom Turns to Social Media After Teen Injured in Possible Hit-and-Run

“I can’t believe someone would just hit me and leave me there,” said Adam Stueckrad

A Joliet mother has taken to social media in hopes of finding someone who knows something about the motorist who may have hit her 13-year-old son while he was skateboarding and left him lying on the ground.

Colleen Stueckrad said her son was riding his skateboard around 1:30 p.m. Sept. 27, just a few blocks from home at Clearly and Hosmer, when it appears he was hit by a car.

The eighth grader staggered later staggered home with several injuries, including a broken arm, concussion, cuts and bruises.

“The blood on the telephone pole, saw blood on the fire hydrant, [police] told me he was hit really hard,” Stueckrad said. “Anger doesn’t cover what I feel, fury doesn’t either. It doesn’t go away.”

But her son said he doesn’t remember the accident.

“I can’t believe someone would just hit me and leave me there,” said Adam Stueckrad.

In search of answers, Colleen Stueckrad took to Facebook in search of information.

In her post, Stueckrad details the pain the accident has caused her family and begs for anyone with information to come forward.

“If anyone has any information to please come forward, to please help us,” she wrote.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the case is being classified as a “suspicious incident involving a child” because officials haven’t been able to rule out that the teen may have just fallen. Investigators reportedly found skid marks at the scene but it was unclear how old they were.

Stueckrad said she doesn’t believe her son fell, and her plea for help has been shared nearly 5,000 times.

Stueckrad, along with Joliet police, is asking anyone with information surrounding the incident to contact police at (815)-724-3100.
